Flywheel has stopped spinning back after 14 months regular but not heavy use. Something has broken inside. Avoid.

cant give a review of how this machine functions over time, since it arrived this morning. but i found it fairly easy to assemble. did it by my self in just under 45 min. For those who said the instruction diagram was hard to follow, there is much easier step by step instructions on the next page.
As for the confusion about the computer on the bar (as shown on the folded photo), its optional so wont come with one (as in the normal picture)
There are only 5 resistance levels not 8, but these feel sufficient for all but professionals work out. 15min on level 2 was enough to raise my heart beat and feel the ache in my arms.
Bought this as im too self concious to go to a gym, and this is a very good alternative. im sure with regular work outs this will prove to be very affective. Would recommend. will update review if there is any problems

buyers or persons wanting to get fit,should be careful with body sculpture rowers particularly the range br3100-3150,as they collapse frequently.i bought one on-line from uksportimports.it collapsed 3times in 4months.there is a defective springs system inside,that collapse every month.uksportimports send parts after parts,as a result of which i end up as an engineer opening the rower myself to fit the parts 3 times within 4months of purchase.be careful,dont touch it.its not good .its look good on picture,but a complete failure.i ask for my money back £179.50.uksportimports refused,they want to repair it.can you imagine repairing a 4month old car,bicycle,mopet,tv,radio,computer,printer and so on.

It is straightforward to assemble but one part had been broken in transit, the separator for one foot rest, but as it does not appear to be an essential part and I didn't have the heart to disassemble and return, I stuck with it.
I had read that you should leave the machine on lower resistances so that you get a decent cardio workout before your arm and leg muscles tire, but on the maximum resistance setting I found that after half an hour of rowing I was barely breaking into a sweat. I had never used a rowing machine previously and so I did not know what to expect, but in comparison to treadmills/cycling machines it seemed way too easy. I still find it an enjoyable workout and it does stress leg muscles but it would be handy to have a resistance setting ranging from easy to hard.
On a pedantic note as other reviewers have noted there are only five levels of resistance not eight as stated in the description.

I can only assume that the people giving this rower good reviews are small-framed people. I am a University student, and a friend and I wanted a rower for our house. This had good reviews and seemed to fit the bill so we bought it... but then packed it up again. IF you have even reasonably strong arms, don't buy this, because the resistance is dead... also it has only 5 levels and not 8. If you weigh 85kg or above, dont buy this, the frame of the machine is too slight and it will rock side to side as you use it. If you are 5'11 or above, dont buy this, the rower isn't long enough and you will find yourself feeling very cramped if you use it. If you are a young person of reasonable fitness, dont buy this as it will do absolutely nothing to maintain or increase your fitness. If you are ageing or small-framed or not very strong, I can see how it might be alright, however.
